Scammers are back

Got a phone call this morning from some police chief of Scunthorpe and I thought here we go again.
It all started 3-4 weeks ago when I first got a call on from a Lady who works for a company called vision group.who puts together free magazines for charities. In this instance it was for a children's charity called the Foresters Fund for Children who help children with cancer and other problems. She wanted to know if I would like to place an advert that would go in this magazine. She said it would only cost £120 and would be in four editions. All money raised from people who place adverts would go to the charity and the local children. Not only that but the magazine would be distributed to every home in the DN15 postcode.
The woman said she would get someone call back to go through all the details. I used this oppurtunity to do a bit of research on the company. So I googled vision group and nothing was coming up which I thought was odd for a company that designs and prints magazines. I then tried to remember the name of the charity and I couldn't I think I was only told it once. So I googled "got a call to advertise in a charity magazine". I saw a forum about a company called Vardis who had been calling people about the same thing but there was never a magazine or charity. They were even investigated by the Mirror. This search brought up the name Foresters Fund for Children which then rang a bell so I googled them.
Thats when I really new they were trying to scam me the were website and forums about this company who were now going under the name of Vision Group. I read about people dealings with them and how when they had realised what was happening they refused to pay them, but they kept harassing and even sent round bailiffs. Other people had tried getting them to prove the magazine had even gone out because they nor anyone they knew had received this magazine. They were faced with abuse and threatening e-mails because as far as they were concerned they had recordings of these people agreeing to do business with them.
So its not only bad enough that they are trying to take peoples money but they pose as a charity and a kids charity at that, how they get away with this I don't know. They apparently target small and new businesses.
A few weeks later I had a missed call on my mobile so I googled the number 07930142607. This came up with several links about how people have again been posing as charity magazines but this time as a police sergant so I was ready if he called back which he did and began like everyone had said this is ..... from Scunthorpe police. I just kept saying hello llike I couldn't hear him than hung up. The phone instantly rang back this time I just rejected the call. He tried again 5 or 6 times I kept rejecting the call. He finallly gave up, I saved the number in my phone as Scam and blocked the number from coming through.
This morning the phone rings, withheld number, I answer, a man says "is this walk and clean" i say yes and he says your a hard man to get hold of. So he must of been trying my number for ages not getting through then calling off a withheld number. Anyway half through his ramble the line goes dead not heard back. hopefully they will stop pestering me.
My advise never agree to anybody ringing you to sell or donate anything. If you want to donate to a charity do it directly. If you want to do any advertising find the company and contact them. Never agree anything without checking them out. If in doubt ask you to call them back and do your research.
Don't be a victim of these low life scum scammers.
